The Anatomy of a Hug

This is a project that explores the importance of human connection and the impact of simple gestures on strangers.

During my time spend in Bristol (UK) I had an encounter with a woman named Esther De Angelis. She goes onto the streets in her free time to distribute free hugs and free smiles. Not everyone feels comfortable enough to open themselves up for a physical connection, but they do walk by with a big smile on their face. People nowadays are so isolated from each other, we walk past without an acknowledgement or smile, as if the other does not exist. The world needs more connection, more human touch. Esther, also known in Bristol as ‘Miss Rainbow', shines a light on people which they will bring along their journeys, I know I have.
